A memorial
is written to Lena on the tombstone of her parents,
Curtis McLaughlin & Miriam McClintock.
Lena Maud
McLaughlin was sent to Liege Belgium, as a teenager,
to perfect her talent of violin playing. She studied
at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Liege, Belgium.
One day her
possessions were sent to family members in Quebec
with a note simply stating that she had died, no
further explanations were enclosed. The circumstances
surrounding her death were indeed suspicious, however
there was either not enough money or the boys ( her
brothers ) were not old enough to be sent to Liege
Belgium to discover the circumstances surrounding her
death.
iii. HUGH
LESLIE MCLAUGHLIN, b. 8 March 1884, Warden, Shefford,
Quebec, Canada; d. Denver, Colorado, USA; m. LOUISE,
Abt. 1910, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Hugh had
T.B. as a young man. The doctor's collapsed one of
his lungs and ordered him to move to a warmer
climate. He chose Denver Colorado. This is where he
died.
iv. WILLIAM
HAROLD MCLAUGHLIN, b. 6 August 1887, Warden,
Shefford, Quebec, Canada; d. 15 June 1927, Brandon,
Manitoba, Canada; m. RETA EILEEN D'ARCY, Abt. 1915,
Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Historian at the museum in Regina:
Constable
William Harold McLaughlin, Regimental Number 7547,
was born August 8, 1887 at Waterloo, Quebec. He
engaged in the Royal North-West Mounted Police
January 10, 1919 at Regina. Prior to joining the
Force, Constable McLaughlin had served with the
Dominion Police and the Saskatchewan Provincial
Police. He also served four years as Deputy Sheriff
of Sweetwater County, Wyoming and in the Philippines
from 1905 to 1908 with the 8th U.S. Cavalry. On his
application he stated that he spoke French and some
Spanish.
Constable
McLaughlin served as a detective during the Winnipeg
General Strike and he was commended by his superiors
for his work. He was transferred to Prince Albert in
1920 and he left the Force December 2, 1920. In 1921
he was working for the Pioneer Detective Bureau in
Winnipeg and then Regina.
