Was Postmaster and Owned a Grocery store in Reddington. Was a truck farmer, raising strawberries, peaches and melons. Buried in Reddington Cemetary, Served in Civil War for North. Played fife. Aug, 1861-Sept 21, 1864 as Private in Co. F, Indiana Infantry, then in 8th Indiana Cavalry. Received $30 per month. Mustered out in Nashville, TN Was living with his daughter, Virginia May when he died. According to an interview with Ennis in Aug. 1974 by Robert L. McClintock, John had brothers in the West.

Comments by Dodie Baker: "Great Grandfather, David Emly, was a cute old man, as I remember him-white beard and rather long white hair: short of stature and spoke with a German accent, even though he was born in this country. If he felt unwell, he chopped wood or worked in the garden to 'work up a sweat'-it made him feel better. He was terribly disturbed by my fathers death at such a young age-he said, "God should have taken me instead, as I am an old man."

This is the lady who was introduced to Francis Jr McClintock by Richard Harris, one of Jehovahs Witnesses. She told us that her mothers name was McClintock (Effie Love McClintock). She said she'd written to John Wayne about his movie McLintock and complained to him about the coarse way McLintock had treated his wife. Wayne had sent her an apology letter and two generic movie tickets. He told her he was sorry she hadn't liked the movie but that she could spend the tickets at any movie theatre in the world to see another movie. Both the letter and the tickets were scrawled with his signature. Ruth showed them to Richard Harris and Francis McClintock Jr. in about 1964.
